We're fortunate to have built a product that generates thousands of signups, hundreds of paying customers and many inbound sales leads every month. Our self-serve motion has grown the company to profitability, and now we need to figure out a sales motion that will get us to the next stage.
We're looking for a scrappy Account Executive who wants to be a partner in building our sales org from the ground up. Our team is small (one sales & CS lead and solutions engineer), so this is not a cookie-cutter role with a clear playbook to execute. We're equally focused on experimenting and learning as we are on driving revenue outcomes. We need to prove things in the lab before we can scale and build them in the factory.
Qualifying inbound leads
Managing our sales pipeline
Product demos (you will need to become an expert)
Prospecting and lead generation from our free and self-serve signup pool
Building lead lists and crafting outbound messaging to test
Extracting insights and feedback from customer calls and sharing them with the company (sales is a key influence on the roadmap)
Lots more...
Previous experience is not required but is a bonus:
Hubspot (CRM)
Apollo (prospecting & campaigns)
Slack (internal and customer comms)
Linear (collaboration with eng and product)
Stripe (subscriptions)
GitHub (our product is deeply integrated; you'll need to know the basics)
Your product-oriented approach: You are driven by creating value for our users through education. You enjoy diving headfirst into a product and learning the ins and outs through resourcefulness. You approach customer interactions with an empathy-driven mindset.
Your beginner's mindset and proactiveness: You're a hustler who takes initiative and doesn't make assumptions that copy-pasting what worked for you in the past will work at GitBook. You actively identify opportunities for improvement and own the implementation from start to finish.
Your teamwork and communication: You understand that we win and lose as a team, and the only way to win is to operate openly and transparently. You're not afraid to speak your mind or call things out and actively share customer insights with the rest of the company. You can toe the line between being a customer advocate and knowing how to set expectations properly. You don't take things at surface level and can ask the right questions to get to the root of an issue.
Your flexibility: You don't shy away from operating in ambiguity. You recognize that things in a startup are rarely black and white and constantly changing. You bring a passion for learning and growth and are eager to evolve with the company as new opportunities and challenges present themselves.
2-5 years of experience in software sales (bonus points for early stage and/or PLG)
Resourceful and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Native English speaker
